DeKalb New Tech Consumer Communication Class is currently partnering with Learning Links to create a promotional video for DeKalb Reads. DeKalb Reads is a parent literacy enrichment program for families of kindergarten students striving to reach grade level. The student-created video advertising DeKalb Reads will be played on a continuous loop at kindergarten screening to show parents of kindergartners what this amazing program has to offer.
In addition to promoting this worthwhile program, there are many academic goals for our New Tech students. DNTstudents will learn the social and economic impact that literacy has on a community. They will learn effective qualitative questioning techniques and interviewing strategies. In addition, students will create storyboards and videos to target a given audience.
As always, our class is grateful to our community for its generous support of our New Tech program. Judy Sorg, Director of Learning Links, and Susan Whittington who spear-heads the DeKalb Reads initiative, are great resources for our students. The class would also like to thank the parents, teachers, and students who have volunteered to provide testimonials for our video project.
