Algebra I students are working on a very interesting project in their math class this month.  While doing their section on graphing, aside from just learning how to graph an equation, they will actually be graphing art.

Students were put into pairs and each pair will pick a piece of art and make a graph with lines, parabolas, and circles that represent that artwork in graph form.  Along with the graphed art, each piece will include a written piece on why that piece of art was chosen, and how their graph represents it, along with a list of equations that show the lines graphed to make the “graph”ic art.
